When To Break Up

No relationship is perfect — that is given. We can’t prevent obstacles from happening; it’s normal in relationships. But what if it gets too far? Are you going to choose between martyrdom and freedom? Here are some signs of an unhealthy relationship.

Physically hurting you. Nobody deserves to be hit for any reason. If your boyfriend inflicts any physical pain upon you, break up with him. Abusive relationships never work.

Trashing your self-esteem. This ranges from saying that you’re good for nothing and that no one would want to go out with you, to not giving you compliments or calling you names. Trashing your self-esteem is just as bad as physical pain and can sometimes be more damaging.

Time is Platinum

You wake up in the morning, brush your teeth, take a shower, brush your teeth again, get dressed, grab your things, and leave for work.  What a typical morning routine it is for you—if only you’re not scurrying to catch the morning bus and you’re not an hour and a half behind your scheduled meeting with a client.  Did I mention that this is the 7th time it has happened to you this month?  And it isn’t even the second half of the month yet.

Nowadays, the term “fast-paced world” has become part of a usual conversation between colleagues, families, and friends.  Everyone seems to be proud, or at least be excited about the fact that they are always on their feet or “on-the-go”.  Highly-efficient people take time management lightly, because they have proven that they are pros at it, but what about the rest of the people?

Asking For a Raise

June 14, 2007

Filed under: Career — infamuzzz @ 11:42 pm

So you’ve been working at your company for almost a year now. Whether it is the job that you love to death or just a place you are putting your hours into, you realize that you want a raise. Of course, who wouldn’t? However, your boss will not always hand you a raise voluntarily. This is when you need to ask for one.

Asking For a Raise 1

Be sure that you deserve a raise
Before you ask for a raise, make sure that you deserve one. Showing up for work everyday does not guarantee you a raise. You need to prove to the management that you are special to the company, and this has to be backed up by facts. What have you done lately that has helped the company? Did you take on and successfully complete a tough assignment?
Take some time to make a list of your accomplishments. Take down notes on everything you have done that would impress your boss. For example, if you are in sales, compare the number of sales you have made recently to a previous time period. If you work in a technical field such as engineering, programming, or architecture, think of the projects that you have completed on time despite tough situations. Whatever your job is, remember to point out something that you have accomplished that went beyond your normal requirements. Be as specific as you can.

Study Skills [Part 2] - Personal Learning State

June 7, 2007

Individual learning modes are as different and unique as fingerprints. From the early years, different people developed different ways of learning to suit their environment, and of course, their various personalities. Needless to say, it is crucial for you to identify and take full advantage of your most favourable learning mode, and improve the learning skills that you are not so comfortable with.

Study Skills [Part 2] - Personal Learning State 1

Those who succeed in the formal education system are likely to have personal learning modes that fit with the way their schools function. However, it is also a possibility that they have adapted to the learning environment of the school. Only a small percentage of students fall into the former category, whilst the latter is an even rarer occurrence because of the difficulty to adapt. On the other hand, those who are not doing so well at school are likely to have learning modes different to the traditional classroom expectations. Only a small handful of students who are “disruptive” at school do not want to be there. The others are usually following peer pressure, catalysed by their difficulty in understanding the content. This links back to their learning modes being different to the classroom environment.

Many new parents don’t know what to do when it comes to choosing a diaper bag since there are so many varieties out there to choose from. The first thought in many parents’ minds is to pick the biggest bag they can find, assuming that they will be able to throw everything in but the kitchen sink!

Picking the right diaper bag won’t be such a problem if you know the basic design of the bag and what you might throw into it later on.
