Everyone has been in this situation. You’re trying to leave a good impression, but then the itching starts. Now, how should you blow it without ruining the date? How polite you are depends on how hard you’re blowing. While there is such a thing as discreet nose-blowing, vigorous nose-blowing requires the sniffler to retire to some private spot.

If you have to blow in public—say, you’re stuck in a meeting—turn away from bystanders, cover your nose fully with a tissue or handkerchief, try not to honk, then discard the tissue. And never, ever exhibit interest in what your efforts have produced.

Hydrogen Peroxide

We all came across this similar situation. You’ve cut your hand and bled on your clothes. First thing that came to mind is that “it’s ruined!”. I know a lot of people that have thrown away their favorite piece of clothing because of having blood of them. They might have tried spot removers, laundry detergents or even bleach and have failed to get the blood stain out. True, bleach might get the blood stain out of the white clothes but you can’t use bleach on color clothes.

Here is a laundry tip to save your favorite clothing. (more…)

To belt up or not?

You wonder if have to wear a belt to be well dressed?
Simple answer: yes. You look incomplete without a belt. Why do you think your pants have loops? You should wear one with jeans, khakis, suits, everything but a bathing suit (unless you’re Halle Berry in a James Bond movie).

Two rules to keep in mind:

First, your belt should complement your shoes or be in the same color family. Don’t wear black shoes, say, and a brown crocodile belt.

Holding baby

To give an infant the support it needs, you have to hold the baby with two hands.
Place one hand under the baby’s bottom. Place the other hand behind the baby’s head and neck and make sure it’s well supported and upright. Supporting an infant’s head is very important.

The perfect fit jacket

Jacket

We’ve taught 4 simple rules to find the perfect fit pants, now it’s time to get that upper body covered.

  1. Like a good buddy, a jacket’s got to cover your butt. Have someone make sure the jacket covers the lower curve, with just a bit to spare.
  2. The line from the top edge of the shoulder down into the armpit should fall freely, without any bunching of the material on the inside of the upper arm. Sit down while the jacket is buttoned to see if it’s full enough across the chest. The sleeve should just cover the wrist bones.
  3. The collar should lie flat against the shirt collar—with no rippling below the jacket collar.

Business meetings. Do them right!

Meeting

Back in a simpler time, when a cup of coffee cost a dime, a movie cost a nickel, and a senate seat in New Jersey cost maybe a hundred bucks, the mass of men made their livings with their muscles.

People of our sex built the Hoover Dam, erected the Empire State Building, and turned millions of damp basements into paneled palaces.

But alas, nowadays, fewer and fewer of us wrestle with I beams. We make our livings tricking people into giving us money. The venue? The business meeting.

Here are a few pointers for prevailing in style: (more…)

Find the pants that fits

Pants

Finding fitting pants ain’t as easy as it seems. Here are 4 rules to find the perfect fit pants.

  1. Pants should clasp comfortably at the waist, without any strain. If they’re even a little too small, the pockets will stick out.
  2. If the pants are pleated, make sure they’re full enough across the front and around the thighs so that the pleats lie flat and aren’t pulled open when you’re standing up straight.
  3. The end of the pants leg should rest lightly on top of your shoe, with a slight break in the fabric. The pants should be long enough so your socks don’t show when you walk.

Child Care Tips: Formula or Breast Milk

Bottle feeding

The baby is almost here. Now you have to make a choice on what you’ll be feeding the baby. Usually when you’re in the hospital they would ask you. But if they don’t, let one of the nurses know which you prefer.

Formula

Lots of people prefer to choose formula. They feel it’s convenient. In the beginning you have to feed the baby every 3 – 4 hours. Nowadays they have ready to use so no mixing. Of course ready to use ones are more expensive compare to powder. With powder ones you should use bottle of baby water to mix. They’ve made convenient powder packages that you can bring out with you on trips. But along with convenience, the cost would be higher. They have powder holder that you can buy that has several compartments. It’s like a pill holder that is set for dosage for each day. But this one holds powder formula. You just have to scoop in enough for each feeding in each compartment. So when it’s time for a feeding. You just have to open that one compartment and pour the powder into the baby bottle and add water and shake it up.

Formula has several types. There are ones with low iron, with iron, soy etc. Even ones that are close to breast milk. The doctor would let you know which one is best for your baby. Some babies are allergic to regular formula so they are put on soy formula. They cost more then regular ones too. Report any rashes on the belly, abnormal stool to the pediatrician. It might be an allergic reaction to the baby formula. (more…)

A good handshake: the 2nd impression

Handshake

Everyone knows that 1st impression are your clothes, but when you get into that room, solliciting for that job, you better makes you 2nd impression count too. That is, the handshake. Here’s a simple howto.

A perfect handshake is in the eyes. If you want the guy’s money (why else would you want to work for him?), invest a few seconds in looking right at him.

Extend your hand, palm nearly perpendicular to the floor, thumb up. Avoid the palm-tilt, the modified underhand approach. It’s okay for greeting your cousin at a family reunion, but too informal here.

Your web (between thumb end index finger) should touch his web. It should feel more like a wrap than a squeeze. (more…)

Newborn

Wondering what you’ll need in the beginning? The last few weeks feels like months? During this time you can go and shop for things that you didn’t get from your baby shower for the baby. Everything looks good to get but becareful what you get. Might be a waste of money!

Nowadays, certain stores have a baby registry. This is convenient so you won’t get double gifts and things you really like to get for your baby. Do your research into the products you are going to get for your baby. Check with consumer report to see if there is any product recalls and the ratings. I remember doing that on my free time. It will save you money!
